A Glamorous Camping Experience- Crump's Camp Paint Bank, Virginia

I think that The Hubs could see I was wearing thin with all the traveling his job had asked of him lately. And so sweet as he is, he confessed that he was planning a surprise getaway. A few days later, he came back with the sad news it would be too expensive for us to travel to his surprise destination-New York City.  He had come up with a few other alternatives and we both agreed that a slow paced small trip would be better for two tired parents. That's where the idea of going glamping came into play. We chose Crump's Camp in Paint Bank, Virginia for our glamorous camping experience. A military size tent with king bed, gas fire place and indoor/outdoor showers seemed to be the perfect fit for us. We thanked the grandparents for sacrificing their weekend to watch the kids and said, "See ya!" a little too excitedly. Enjoy the PLOG (Picture Blog) as much as we enjoyed our trip and hope that it inspires you to try glamping sometime.
Stopped at a country gas station and discovered they had wine! Y'all know I had to partake.
The tiny town of Paint Bank, Virginia complete with one restaurant, The Swinging Bridge.
My buffalo steak from The Swinging Bridge was on point.

A couple miles down the road was our destination. Complete with no people, no cars and plenty of outdoor beauty.

There was nobody around us. No wifi, no phone, a completely cut off vacay.

Our humble abode...

A gas fireplace kept the tent very warm despite it being 30 degrees outside.
The vanity complete with electrical outlets and all the amenities you'd expect in a regular hotel.

A cedar shower with chandelier.
And even an outdoor shower with sign on the door that said, "Don't feed the bears."

That night we heard a pack of coyotes and I would be lieing if I said, "I wasn't scared."
Waking up was just amazing with this view.

In the morning, the pond would start bubbling around seven as if to say, "Wake up and enjoy this beautiful morning."

A picnic basket of fresh baked goods still warm from the oven was presented every morning.

Who can resist homemade blueberry muffins and fresh biscuits?

Moved our breakfast to the deck overlooking the pond.
16 years and he still gives me butterflies.

Dale's sweatshirt looks amazing on me. Don't you just love my get up. What can I say, "It was cold!"

Fishing in the pond.

We drove into West Virginia to visit The Greenbrier Hotel and Bunker. Afterwards we visited another small town, Lewisburg, West Virginia.

Vintage and Consignment Shopping...I was in heaven.

We almost walked out of this antique store but way in the back something caught our eye. Reclaimed barn wood for mantles. Exactly what we were looking for and so much cheaper than purchasing in Richmond, Virginia.
A quaint location for lunch, Stardust Café had the best "Trust Me" salad.
"The Best Ever Bee El Tee" was a hit for The Hubs too.

I'm sure people thought we were crazy when we stuck it out through high school and college but there's something about growing old with your sweetheart. Not saying everyday is perfect, but without each other, life wouldn't be perfect at all.

So long Crump's Camp! It's time to pick up our three beautiful kids.
